Quebecor Inc. (TSX: QBR.A)(TSX: QBR.B) announces the departure of
Luc Lavoie, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs. Mr. Lavoie
joined Quebecor in December 2000, after having served as a
consultant for the Company for over a year.
"My eight years with Quebecor have been very exciting and
rewarding," says Mr. Lavoie. "The trust that the Company's
President and Chief Executive Officer, Pierre Karl Peladeau, placed
in me gave me the opportunity to play a role in building one of
Canada's largest media and communications companies. In the new
environment created by the digital revolution, Quebecor is now
fully equipped to face the competition from global giants and to
offer all its audiences tools and products that are comparable to
the best in the world. It has been a privilege to be part of the
growth of this cutting-edge company and I thank Pierre Karl and his
entire management team."
"Luc has made an enormous contribution to the Quebecor Media
success story of recent years and to creating a major
communications group that enables Quebec society to keep control
over its cultural industries," says Pierre Karl Peladeau. "I am
pleased to announce that Luc will continue cooperating with
Quebecor on an ad hoc basis, both as an advisor and, true to his
first calling as a journalist, as a commentator on current
affairs."
Mr. Lavoie will help the organization in settling in a
successor.
"I will certainly think back on my years at Quebecor with
nostalgia but I felt that the time had come to move on," says Mr.
Lavoie. "I thank everyone I've worked with. I am confident that
Quebecor will continue to be an exceptional organization that
benefits all of society."
