Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), the largest global supplier of
specialised mining productivity solutions, has won its second software award for
2008 with Gemcom InSite(TM), its industry-leading mine performance management
solution. InSite won the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA)
SoftwareCEO Software Innovation Award for Most Innovative Vertical Industry
Software.

CompTIA is the leading trade association for the world's information technology
industry and its SoftwareCEO Software Innovation Awards recognise innovative
software products and new business models in eight different categories. These
awards recognise products, ideas and business models that break with
conventional software ideas and processes producing results that go well beyond
marginal improvements on existing solutions. In seeking to determine these
breakthrough achievements in delivering innovative software products to market,
each product is evaluated on:

- Scope of the innovation - What business problem/opportunity does the
innovation address and what is the size of the problem/opportunity?

- Impact of the innovation on software or the software industry - What practical
results (sales, users, profits, etc.) has the innovation had on a software
product or the software industry? The innovation must be new and have both a
current and future impact; and

- How novel is the innovation - How does the innovation break with traditional
ideas or processes?

"Recognition of InSite as a key industry technology by a leading global IT
association like CompTIA is a fantastic achievement for us," said Robert
Selzler, Gemcom's vice president of marketing. "The Innovation Awards
specifically look at the positive impact software solutions have on solving
industry problems, which underlines the important role that InSite has to play
in the mining industry."

Winners were announced at CompTIA's Software Marketing Perspectives Conference &
Expo in Santa Clara, California. Gemcom succeeded against six other finalists in
the Most Innovative Vertical Industry Software category which was judged by a
panel of software industry experts.

"This year's SoftwareCEO Software Innovation Awards competition featured more
than 90 entries, a record number," said David Sommer, chief operating officer,
CompTIA, and publisher of SoftwareCEO. "It's a testament to the creativity and
vibrancy of the software market, which continues to produce products and
services that deliver real business value to customers. By winning this award,
Gemcom has demonstrated it is at the forefront of innovation."

Gemcom InSite delivers planning and production management information through a
highly-flexible web portal that draws upon a single source of integrated data.
The system provides role-based access to key performance indicators, reports,
production metrics, cost measures, safety and environmental indicators. Gemcom
recently signed agreements with two major Australian companies, mining and civil
construction contractor Macmahon Holdings Limited (ASX:MAH) and Australia's
largest iron ore contract miners, HWE Mining, for the implementation of Gemcom
InSite as their business support application and production management system.
