Yelp Names Diane Irvine Chairwoman
September 28 2015 - 10:30AM
Dow Jones News
Yelp Inc. said Monday that it has elevated Diane Irvine, the
former chief executive of online jewelry retailer Blue Nile Inc.,
to the role of chairwoman.
Ms. Irvine succeeds Max Levchin, an early investor in the
consumer-review company who stepped down as chairman in July.
Ms. Irvine, who has sat on the company's board since 2011, is
among a handful of women to hold the role in Silicon Valley.
The share of women leaders at Silicon Valley companies has
increased steadily over two decades, a study by law firm Fenwick
West found last December. But only about 10% of directors at
Silicon Valley's 150 largest companies are women, compared with
about 21% of directors at S&P 100 companies.
