Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI) entered into a collaborative agreement on digital mail with Systemware Inc., a major enterprise content management (ECM) company. The latter will act as a technology partner for Pitney’s Volly™ secure digital delivery service. Through this partnership, Pitney adds Systemware and its clients to its network.

The customers and prospects of Systemware will be able to easily transform, package and deliver all their statements, monthly bills, policy notices, as well as other types of customer communication through the Volly™ secure digital delivery service. Digital Mail Gateway will convert raw print streams of statements, policy records, shareholder communications and many other types of documents into an exact copy of the paper notice.

This will be included into a consumer’s digital mailbox as an encoded and encrypted file. Digital delivery provides mailers branded service at low cost. Further, Volley aims to provide consumers with a secure, organized, electronic means of communication that is spam-free.

Pitney Bowes has undertaken a strategic transformation process designed to create long-term flexibility to invest in future growth. However, many of its contracts are with government entities. Government contracts are subject to extensive and complex government procurement laws and regulations, along with regular audits of contract pricing and business practices. Further, continuing economic uncertainty remains a matter of concern.

The company offers a full suite of equipment, supplies, software and services for end-to-end mailstream solutions, which enable its customers to optimize the flow of physical and electronic mail, documents and packages across their operations. A major competitor of Pitney Bowes is Siemens Inc. (SI).
