CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Piedmont
Natural Gas (NYSE: PNY) today announced the promotion of
Brad Merlie to the position of Vice
President of Information Services (IS). Mr. Merlie previously
held the position of Managing Director – Engineering and Operations
Services at the Company. In his new role, Mr. Merlie will be
responsible for the Company's IS infrastructure, information
technology sourcing, business systems delivery, and IS quality
assurance, customer service and support.
Michael Yount, Piedmont's Senior Vice President of Utility
Operations which includes Information Services commented, "We're

well suited for this area of Piedmont's operations and the evolving
requirements of our business in terms of information delivery and
the infrastructure that supports it."
Mr. Merlie joined Piedmont Natural Gas from Williams
International in July of 2007 as Piedmont's Director of Liquefied Natural Gas
(LNG) in which he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of
Piedmont's three LNG facilities in
North Carolina and Tennessee. In 2009, he was named
Managing Director of Engineering and Operations Services where he
had responsibility, among other things, for Piedmont's Engineering, Construction, Gas
Measurement, Pipeline Integrity and Compliance, and Gas Control
functions.
Mr. Merlie is a graduate of North Carolina
State University with a BS degree in Civil Engineering.
