Novartis AG said Tuesday that it has suspended capital investments, media advertising and other promotional activities in Russia as a result of sanctions imposed on the country due to its war against Ukraine.

The Swiss pharma company also said it has paused the initiation of new clinical trials and the enrollment of new participants in existing trials, and added that these measures will be kept under review.

Novartis said it remains committed to providing access to medicines, and that it has donated antibiotics, painkillers and other kinds of treatments to Ukraine and the border areas where people are fleeing.
