Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) today announced that it joined
Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake in dedicating nine new homes
to Habitat families as part of a neighborhood festival and rally
held today at Patterson Park in Baltimore. Nearly 100 employees
from Constellation Energy and its utility subsidiary, Baltimore Gas
and Electric Company, assisted in the effort to build the
homes.
“Constellation Energy is extremely proud of its long-standing
partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake and its
continued progress in developing new, affordable and
energy-efficient housing for low-income families in Baltimore,”
said Mayo A. Shattuck III, chairman, president and chief executive
officer of Constellation Energy. “Constellation Energy’s support of
this initiative is yet one more example of the company’s commitment
to caring for those who live and work in our community. Each year,
Constellation Energy contributes more than $8 million and
Constellation Energy employees volunteer nearly 50,000 hours of
community service throughout the Baltimore area and the other
communities it serves. Now more than ever we are making a
difference and we look forward to continuing our commitment to
supporting communities in need.”
The homes are located in the 2400 block of Fayette Street.
Constellation Energy employees volunteered their time helping with
painting, landscaping, carpentry and other tasks aimed at getting
the homes ready for their new owners.
Constellation Energy employees from across the company assisted
the effort by donating items to help the new families furnish and
equip their new homes. Items collected included table lamps,
welcome mats, pillow cases, sheets, towels, kitchen items and other
essentials.
Constellation Energy wives joined with PGA Tour Wives to
assemble welcome baskets containing homemade cookies, pies, banana
bread, chicken rice casseroles and Chex mix. In addition,
Constellation Energy Kids—children of Constellation Energy
employees—volunteered to make picture frames containing welcome
messages for the families. Constellation Energy Kids also sold
baked goods during the recently held Constellation Energy Senior
Players Championship, raising $1,050 to put toward the purchase of
grocery gift cards to distribute to the families. The frames and
gift cards were added to the welcome baskets and presented to
Habitat for Humanity families at today’s festival and rally.
