Chesapeake Energy Shares Fall Over 7% After Wednesday Earnings

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) shares are trading lower Thursday,
a day after it released first-quarter results that missed analysts'
expectations.
At 1 p.m. EDT, shares of the oil and gas company had lost 7.34%
and were trading at $2.67. Volume was higher than usual, with over
49.9 million shares trading, above the 65-day average volume of
some 45.6 million.
Chesapeake reported its first-quarter results before the bell
Wednesday. The company said it had revenue of $2.2 billion, below
what analysts anticipated. Chesapeake also reported a net loss of
$44 million, or 3 cents a share.
