Direct fibre connections bringing Canada's fastest home Internet
to Manitoba centres large and
small
MORDEN, MB, May 15, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell MTS today
announced an investment to bring its next generation all-fibre
network to approximately 3,300 residences and business locations
throughout the City of Morden. The
network expansion will provide the fastest consumer Internet speeds
in Canada to the Pembina Valley
community.
Fully funded by Bell MTS, the Morden fibre network expansion is part of the
Bell MTS $1 billion investment plan
to deploy the most advanced fibre and wireless broadband networks
throughout Manitoba.
"High speed connectivity is critical to the prosperity and
well-being of our residents, businesses and visitors," said Brandon
Burley, Mayor of Morden. "Bell MTS
has been an important ally to the City in providing critical
communication and media services. We are excited to welcome their
continued investment, which will connect us to fast, reliable
Internet technology and contribute to Morden's overall competitiveness in the global
economy."
With construction of the Morden
fibre project set to begin this summer, the first customers are
expected to have access to Bell MTS Gigabit Fibe Internet,
Whole Home Wi-Fi and Fibe TV this fall.
"We're pleased to connect Morden with the world's best Internet
technology as part of our ongoing capital investment plan for
Manitoba," said Dan McKeen, Vice Chair of Bell MTS &
Western Canada. "Bell MTS is proud
to be a major investor in the province's future as we advance how
Manitobans connect with each other and the world."
Building on the Bell MTS all-fibre network that is connecting
over 30 Manitoba municipalities, the Morden expansion will deliver home Internet
speeds of up to 1.5 Gigabits per second, the fastest available in
Canada. Bell MTS is also bringing
direct fibre connections to homes and businesses in La Salle, Flin
Flon and Churchill this
year.
