Alltel Wireless, Americas largest network, today announced that it
is the first North American carrier to launch mywaves, a mobile
video service that allows customers to browse thousands of Web
videos and watch them from their phones for $3.99 per month.
Customers can easily download the application from their phones via
the Alltel Axcess Shop and customize the content by choosing their
favorite genres including comedy, sports, health, business, music,
technology and more. The application, which provides access to
professional programming, user-generated videos and personal
videos, allows users to bookmark their favorite sites, so that they
can quickly view new content as it is added. Alltel customers can
also choose for text messages to be sent to their phones, alerting
them when new clips are available in their channels of choice. Our
customers now have more video viewing options than ever before,
said Scott Moody, director of data services for Alltel Wireless.
mywaves gives us the ability to deliver thousands of videos
directly to our customers, allowing them to further customize their
wireless experience. mywaves is the perfect complement to
Alltels video offerings, providing the short-form Web
entertainment that appeals to a very different demographic, the
mobile youth, said Rajeev Raman, founder and CEO for mywaves.
Were pleased to be working with Alltel to redefine the notion of
personalized video entertainment on mobile phones. mywaves,
running on QUALCOMMs BREW solution, is initially available on
select Alltel phones including the LG AX8600; Motorola RAZR V3m,
V3c, KRZR K1m and e815, and the Samsung u520. The application will
be available on additional Alltel phones in the future. Alltel
Wireless offers exclusive features including "My Circle, allowing
customers to choose who they call for free any 10 numbers, any
network; Anytime Plan Changes, giving customers the flexibility to
change their rate plan any time, without extending their contract;
and Celltop, a patent-pending technology that offers customers an
easier way to access, manage and organize a wide range of
information already available on their phones. mywaves is the
fastest growing, carrier independent mobile video company that
delivers Web video entertainment to mobile phones around the world.
