LAGOS (AFP)--A former Nigerian oil minister's wife has been
kidnapped in Nigeria's volatile oil city of Port Harcourt,
officials said Wednesday.
The wife of former oil minister Edmond Daukoru, Gladys, was
abducted by gunmen Tuesday, Rivers State police spokeswoman Rita
Abbey told AFP.
No-one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, said
Abbey, who didn't provide further details on the incident.
Daukoru was a minister in the government of former president
Olusegun Obasanjo, who left office in May 2007.
In a separate kidnapping Tuesday, gunmen abducted James Charles,
a Nigerian worker for Agip SpA (AGY.YY), a subsidiary of Italian
energy company ENI SpA (E), an Agip security official said.
