CNET Networks Games & Entertainment, which includes GameSpot, MP3.com, and TV.com, today announced the finalists for the Third Annual Mobile Entertainment Awards, better known as the 2005 Mobies. The Mobies are the industry's only awards recognizing excellence in mobile entertainment innovation, design, and technical achievement. The winners, including the 2005 Mobile Game of the Year, will be announced on April 5 at the CTIA WIRELESS 2006 conference in Las Vegas. "CTIA is proud to host the Mobies at CTIA WIRELESS 2006, and congratulates the finalists," said Rob Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA-The Wireless Association. "Mobile entertainment is an increasingly important segment of the wireless industry, fueling advanced wireless services with on-the-go entertainment. Reaching millions of entertainment fans each month, CNET Networks Games & Entertainment enables consumers to make informed buying decisions, and the award finalists this year represent some of the best titles available." A panel of CNET Networks editorial experts chose the 2005 Mobies finalists based on gameplay, aesthetic value, and replay-ability. In addition to the game awards, the new Mobile Entertainment Trailblazer award has been added to the 2005 Mobies, recognizing companies for outstanding innovation in mobile entertainment. By providing compelling third-screen entertainment offerings from games, music, and video to access to live events and exclusive content, each winning company is driving consumer demand for mobile entertainment. "The evolution of handsets into portable media centers has presented a tremendous opportunity for mobile and entertainment companies to partner in the creation of content that enhances the mobile experience," said Vince Broady, senior vice president of CNET Networks Games & Entertainment. "We're honored to acknowledge innovation that's moving the industry forward."
