SRS Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRSL), a leading provider of surround sound, audio and voice technologies, today announced the new SRS TruSurround HD4 (TS HD4) virtual surround sound audio technology is available on the latest generation of single-chip TV audio solutions from Micronas. The latest addition to the SRS TruSurround family of multichannel virtualization technologies, TS HD4 delivers surround sound from front-positioned speaker drivers ranging from 4.0 to 5.1 discrete channels. Perfectly designed for the midrange and high-end television market and speaker array configurations, SRS TruSurround HD4 accepts up to seven (6.1) input channels and renders virtual surround sound from the front of the viewer. TS HD4 utilizes proprietary algorithms to enhance signal clarity and improve the intelligibility of dialog, while psychoacoustic techniques maximize the perceived bass response. When televisions featuring SRS TruSurround HD4 receive multichannel or Lt/Rt content, TruSurround HD4 virtualizes the channels, creating phantom speakers that appear to extend all around the listener, so the listener experiences a distinctively immersive surround sound effect without the clutter of extra speakers. When the audio source is mono or stereo, TruSurround HD4 creates an expansive three dimensional sound field, provides definition to high-frequencies and offers a center control feature to adjust the mix of center information. The feature-rich solution SRS TruSurround HD4 provides combined with Micronas high performance TV audio DSPs delivers an incredibly immersive and thrilling user experience, said Lenka Koloma, senior director, Strategic IC Partner and Sales, SRS Labs. The powerful combination also creates an attractive and seamless offering which TV manufacturers worldwide can instantly deploy. The two Consumer Audio System-on-Chip (SoC) ICs from Micronas that feature SRS TruSurround HD4, as well as the previously announced SRS TruSurround HD, are MAP-M and MSP-M. MAP-M is optimized for televisions focusing on digital TV as well as for home audio applications such as integrated audio systems, A/V receivers and Home-Theater-in-a-box (HTiB). MSP-M is designed for televisions receiving analog and digital broadcasts. Both solutions are fully pin and software compatible and are the core audio device in HDTVs and home audio systems. We are excited to offer SRS Labs' latest virtual surround technology on our unique single-chip high-end audio system, said Stefan Hepp, director marketing Consumer Audio at Micronas. SRS TruSurround HD4 delivers superior audio performance. Combined with our flexible SoC, we are able to provide CE manufacturers with a cost-effective solution that includes the expanded features to maximize product differentiation. SRS Labs will be demonstrating SRS TruSurround HD4 at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 8-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, room N210. Demonstrations will also be available in Micronas booth, #35344 / 35875 in South Hall 4. About SRS Labs, Inc.
