PR Newswire (US)
Bimbo Bakeries Mexico Chooses IMPCO CERRITOS, Calif., Oct. 18
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMPCO Technologies Inc., (NASDAQ:IMCO).
Bimbo Bakeries is a division of Grupo Bimbo, the largest producer
of baked flour products in Latin America with a delivery fleet of
29,000 vehicles. When the Mexico City government mandated that
vehicles fueled by liquid fuels would be curbed during pollution
alerts and that vehicles operating with clean burning fuels such as
propane and natural gas would be exempt, it became apparent to
Bimbo Bakeries that a fuel change was required to keep their
delivery trucks running uninterrupted. Mexico City is among the ten
most polluted cities in the world. With a fleet of 2,500 delivery
vehicles in Mexico City, the management of Bimbo Bakeries knew that
it was imperative that they make the right decision in choosing a
company who could provide the products and expertise to support the
conversion of the vehicles from petrol to propane. IMPCO was chosen
due to its history and reputation for supporting the successful
conversion of other fleets for over 25 years in Mexico. To date,
over 500,000 vehicles have been converted to IMPCO equipment in
Mexico. Bimbo Bakeries has thus far converted 2,500 delivery
vehicles in Mexico City and an additional 2,000 in the remainder of
Mexico. With gasoline priced at $2.07 per gallon and propane at
only $1.20, Bimbo Bakeries will be able to realize yearly fuel
savings over US$5.0 million and stop fuel theft. Brad Garner, Vice
President and COO of IMPCO Technologies stated, "Our position as
the world leader in alternative fuels technology and products and
the presence of our own technical support staff in Mexico gave
Bimbo Bakeries a high level of confidence in choosing IMPCO."
Regarding IMPCO: IMPCO designs, manufactures, markets and supplies
advanced alternative fuel systems and related products to original
equipment manufacturers and to the aftermarket for the mobile,
industrial, power generation, and stationary engines market place.
