IMPCO Procures Equipment to Measure Harmful Diesel Emissions
CERRITOS, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMPCO
Technologies Inc., (NASDAQ:IMCO) announced today the addition of
state-of-the-art engine emission and diesel particulate measurement
equipment to the capabilities at their Global Research and
Development Center located in Kent, Washington. The equipment is
the latest addition to IMPCO's engine emissions measurement
laboratory used in the development of engines and fuel systems to
reduce harmful exhaust emissions. In particular, the new equipment
is especially suited to measure smoke, emissions and particulate
matter from diesel engines. Independent studies has indicated
exhaust of diesel engines contributes to the global greenhouse
effect and that their particulate matter is a carcinogen. The U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources
Board, as well as many international regulatory agencies, have
identified particulate matter emitted from diesel-fueled engines
applications such as heavy truck, intercity transportation, and
school buses as a major pollution and health issue. IMPCO is
presently developing technologies and products to reduce or
eliminate exhaust emission particulates from diesel engines and to
significantly reduce the emission greenhouse effect. The use of
diesel fueled engines in the United States is mainly used in heavy
duty applications and encompasses over 20 million vehicles. The
equipment enables the measurement of exhaust and particulate
emissions of gasoline, compressed natural gas, liquid propane gas
and diesel fueled engines to the minimum level for engines
currently regulated under standards such as Euro III, Euro IV, and
EPA 2004 and 2007, as well as those needing to comply with extra
stringent standards such as ULEV or SULEV. Engines from 25 to 600
horse power can be tested. The addition of the equipment is
integral to IMPCO's ongoing commitment to the continued development
of products to improve the emissions of internal combustion engines
for the worldwide transportation and industrial marketplace.
Regarding IMPCO: IMPCO designs, manufactures, markets and supplies
advanced alternative fuel systems and related products to original
equipment manufacturers and to the aftermarket for the mobile,
industrial, power generation, and stationary engines market place.
