The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) have reached an
agreement to enhance the electronic warfare equipment on F-35
fighter jets being sold to Israel, and to utilize Israeli-unique
systems, Reuters reported Thursday, citing "sources familiar with
the negotiations."
According to the report, the deal is to be finalized in the
coming weeks.
The agreement marks a step forward for Israel's $2.75 billion
deal, signed in October 2010, to purchase 19 F-35 jets.
The agreement will allow Israeli companies, including Elbit
Systems Ltd. (ESLT, ESLT.TV) and the state-owned company Israel
Aerospace Industries, to participate further in the program,
Reuters said.
