SAN JOSE, Calif., March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vision Systems
International (VSI), a leader in advanced Helmet Mounted Displays
(HMDs) for tactical aircraft, has been awarded a $19.8 million contract for the delivery and
engineering support of Night Vision Cueing Display (NVCD) systems.
Under this recently awarded NVCD LRIP-2 contract, VSI is expected
to deliver 100 NVCD systems by November
2013.
"With this award, additional front line U.S. pilots will have
access to technology that delivers Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing
System capability to night missions," said VSI President
Phil King. VSI's NVCD technology
will be integrated into all domestic Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing
System (JHMCS) platforms for use aboard U.S. Air Force F-15, F-16,
and Navy F/A-18 JHMCS-equipped aircraft.
This new contract is an extension to a $3.8 million NVCD LRIP-2 logistics contract
awarded to VSI in September 2011. Under the LRIP-2 contract
VSI is modifying the HMD test set to accommodate additional NVCD
capability as well as providing support.
"Our ability to see solutions where others may see barriers is
what keeps VSI on the vanguard of providing advanced HMDs for
tactical aircraft. We look forward to a successful delivery
and continued engineering support to both Air Force and Navy
forces," said King.
