The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Phillips 66 (PSX) continues to perform maintenance at its
247,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Sweeny, Texas, a company spokesman
said Feb. 4.
Philadelphia Energy Solutions said in a filing to local
environmental regulators, made public on Feb. 1, that a reformer
unit at the Girard Point section of its 330,000-barrels-a-day
Philadelphia refinery was shut Jan. 18 for maintenance. No restart
timing indicated.
Houston Refining LP (LYB) on Feb. 1 said it is in the early
stages of starting a period of planned turnaround maintenance at
one of the crude units and at a coker unit at its Houston refinery.
Crude-oil throughput will be reduced by about 80,000 barrels a day
during the maintenance period. The work is expected to be completed
during the first quarter.
PBF Energy Inc. (PBF) said a brief fire Wednesday night at its
Toledo Refinery near Toledo, Ohio, temporarily shut a key
gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit. Other processing
units are currently operating at reduced rates or on standby and it
will take several weeks for the plant to return to planned rates,
the company said in a news release Jan. 31.
ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) on Jan. 31 said its Torrance, Calif.,
refinery was operating normally following a "temporary" mechanical
issue at one of the plant's units the day before. The event
resulted in unplanned flaring that was reported to the South Coast
Air Quality Management District said. Traders in the region said
production rates at the plant's FCCU had been cut to facilitate
repair at the alkylation unit. Exxon provided no further
detail.
Alon USA Partners LP (ALDW) on Jan. 29 said 10 days of planned
maintenance at its Big Spring, Texas, vacuum tower will start this
month. Work to replace the plant's diesel hydrotreater catalyst and
reformer catalyst regeneration has been advanced from later this
year and will take place at the same time.

turnaround maintenance will start in April at a crude unit at its
170,000-barrel-a-day McKee Refinery in Sunray, Texas. The company
has also scheduled the plant-wide shutdown of its
100,000-barrel-a-day Jean Gaulin Refinery in Quebec, Canada, for
nine weeks of turnaround work starting in April.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) on Jan. 28 reported a release of
hydrogen sulfide at its Detroit refinery owing to a flare gas
recovery compressor malfunction, a filing to the NRC said. The
impact to production wasn't known.
Hess Corp. (HES) on Jan. 28 said it will close its
70,000-barrel-a-day FCCU facility in Port Reading, N.J., by the end
of February and sell all terminal operations along the East Coast
and in the Caribbean to focus on exploration-and-production
activity.
BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) said scheduled maintenance began last week at
its Cherry Point refinery in Blain, Washington, a filing to state
environmental regulators made available Jan. 28 said. The unit or
units involved and the duration of the maintenance weren't
specified.
