CG Carlyle Group Inc

DuPont Co. (DD) is close to a deal to sell its performance-coatings unit to private-equity firm Carlyle Group LP (CG) as early as this week, Reuters news agency reported on its website, citing three unnamed sources.

The agreement had been delayed due to complexities in negotiating a carve-out of the unit, the report cited the sources as saying.

The Wall Street Journal earlier this month reported that Carlyle had outbid private-equity rivals for the DuPont unit with a $4.8 billion offer.

DuPont and Carlyle declined comment, the Reuters report said.
