outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswire's. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
ExxonMobil (XOM) on Sept. 23 said in a filing to the NRC a coker
unit compressor failure resulted in a rate cut at its Joliet
refinery in Ill.
Phillips 66 (PSX) in a report to the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality said key gasoline-making fluid catalytic
cracking unit, or FCCU, 40 at its joint-venture refinery in Borger,
Texas, will be taken out of service for just over one month on
Sept. 24, and FCCU 29 will shut down on October 21 for one
month.
Phillips 66 (PSX) on Sept. 21 said production had resumed at its
Los Angeles refinery as expected. Record heat and a power outage on
Sept 15 forced a facility-wide shutdown.
Phillips 66 (PSX) on Sept. 21 said production had resumed at its
Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, La., as expected. Operations
were idled on Aug. 28 ahead of Hurricane Isaac.
Valero Energy on Sept. 21 confirmed the shutdown of a fluid
catalytic cracker at it's 160,000 barrel-a-day Houston, Texas,
refinery for eight weeks of planned turnaround maintenance.
Separately, on Sept. 21 Valero said maintenance that began the
day before at its McKee, Texas, refinery wasn't expected to have a
material impact to production.
Calumet restarted process units at its refinery in Superior,
Wisconsin, as soon as possible after a power failure on Sept. 20, a
filing to the National Response Center said.
Alon USA's Big Spring, Texas, refinery, reported emissions and
flaring on Sept. 20 related to a gas leak at a boiler unit. The
filing to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said repair
work was under way.
BP PLC on Sept. 20 reported flaring due to a process upset at
its Cherry Point, Washington, refinery, a report to the Northwest
Clean Air Agency said.
Maintenance will continue for several weeks on a flexicoker at
Exxon Mobil Corp.'s (XOM) 560,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Baytown,
Texas, the company said on Sept. 20. The flexicoker was taken out
of service on Sept. 11, due to a heat exchanger leak.
