The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
A residual hydrotreating train was depressurized on July 18 at
BP PLC's (BP, BP.LN) oil refinery in Texas City, Texas, to
facilitate repairs to fix a leak at the unit's heat exchanger, a
filing to Texas state environmental regulators made public on
Tuesday said. A source familiar with operations at the plant said
operations at the residual hydrotreating unit, or RHU,were reduced,
but that two out of three trains continue to operate normally. It
is not clear when the RHU will resume normal operations.
BP PLC on July 19 began the process of returning an Ultracracker
unit at its Texas City refinery to normal operations. Emissions
associated with the event there are expected to last until Friday,
a filing to Texas state environmental regulators said. The company
has struggled to bring the facility back to normal operations after
a citywide power outage in April forced a three-day shutdown.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on July 18 said it's 362,000-barrel-a-day
Wood River refinery in Roxana, Ill., was running at planned rates
following a June 25 thunderstorm that knocked out power there.
A planned flaring event will take place between July 18 and July
27 at ConocoPhillips 140,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Wilmington,
Calif., according to the South Coast Air Quality Management
District. It wasn't known which unit, or units, would be
affected.
A flaring emissions event was reported by the Texas Commission
On Environmental Quality due to an upset with two fluid catalytic
cracking units at ExxonMobil's massive 562,000 barrel-a-day
refinery in Baytown, Texas. The flaring took place from 1 pm to
3:34 pm on July 16 and caused feedstock to the units to be
minimized.
