outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA), Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM),
LyondellBassell and Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said their refineries
are not impacted by the closure of the Houston Ship Channel Sunday
after a barge downed a power line. The shipping lane is expected to
be reopened late Tuesday.
Citgo Petroleum Corp. said Monday that the crude unit and No. 2
fluid catalytic cracking unit at its Corpus Christi, Texas,
refinery were at planned rates after being restarted last week.
"The refinery is currently operating at planned rates," said a
company official who declined to be named.
Tesoro Corp. was fined Tuesday by state regulators $2.39 million
for the blast at its Anacortes, Wash., refinery in April that
killed seven workers. Washington Labor & Industries officials
said the accident was perventablen and issued 44 citations for
safety violations. The company plans to begin start-up procedures,
originally scheduled for Oct. 4, "when all conditions for a
controlled and safe startup are in place," a spokseman said
Monday.
Shell reported Monday that it is performing repairs on its flare
system--which is used to burn off excess emissions--at its
Martinez, Calif., refinery, according to a filing with state
environmental regulators.
Flint Hills Resources LP's refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas,
will shut Monday a hydrocracker located at its West Plant to
perform maintenance, according to a filing with state environmental
regulators.
On Friday, Flint Hills shut multiple units at the East Plant of
the Corpus Christi refinery after a system malfunction. The company
did not disclose which units were impacted.
The Hovensa refinery in St. Croix is in restarting its key
gasoline-making unit after an upset Thursday evening, but the unit
will operate at reduced rates for two weeks while repairs are
taking place, a spokesman for the refinery said Friday.
ConocoPhillips (COP) will return a fluid catalytic cracker and
alkylation unit at its Los Angeles refinery to normal operations by
mid-October after completing work, a person familiar with the
plant's operations said Friday.
