New Offering Extends MPC's Award-winning Storage Product Family
NAMPA, Idaho, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- MPC Computers, a wholly owned
subsidiary of HyperSpace Communications, Inc. (AMEX:HCO), today
announced the new DataFRAME 140 iSCSI SAN, which adds a
lower-priced small form factor solution to its family of storage
products. The DataFRAME 140 is housed in a 1U form factor and
supports 1TB of storage with four redundant and hot-swappable 250GB
SATA hard drives. The unit also features two redundant and
hot-swappable power supplies. The ability to cluster together
multiple DataFRAME 140s enables organizations to "pay as they
grow." This product also supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 for
optimized performance and fault tolerance, as well as dual Gigabit
Ethernet iSCSI connectivity for greater networking flexibility and
reduced administrative costs. "We're excited to add the DataFRAME
140 to our storage product portfolio. This new product further
enables us to meet our customers' needs by offering them a choice
of highly scalable storage solutions with excellent performance,"
said Paul Petersen, MPC's vice president of product marketing and
development. "We've had excellent customer response to our
DataFRAME series of storage products." The DataFRAME 140 includes
LeftHand Network's innovative SAN/iQ management software, which
offers IT administrators an easy-to-use interface for managing
storage provisioning and utilization. Software features of the
DataFRAME 140 include: * Storage Over-Subscription -- One of IT's
biggest challenges is upgrading system capacity as the organization
outgrows its existing storage. With Storage Over-Subscription, an
IT administrator can provision all the storage a server will ever
need throughout its planned life, regardless of how much physical
storage is available on the DataFRAME 140. As the DataFRAME 140
uses up physical disk space, it will alert the IT administrator to
add additional space in the SAN, which is done seamlessly and
eliminates server down time. * Scalability Software -- Allows
automatic clustering and virtualization between multiple DataFRAME
140s. This capability provides not only extensive system
scalability, but data replication between DataFRAME 140s as well.
In the event a DataFRAME 140 goes down, an organization's data is
still available on the network with no downtime involved in the
recovery. * Automated Snapshot -- Includes manual snapshot
capabilities to instantaneously backup a volume of data of any
size. This feature also gives the IT administrator the ability to
take snapshots automatically at timed intervals. * Data Protection
-- Provides the ability to backup data to another DataFRAME 140
that resides apart from the main system. The physical separation
could be between buildings, campuses, states or even countries.
This enables an organization to have true disaster recovery
protection in the event of a catastrophic event. "We're pleased to
work with MPC Computers to bring the DataFRAME 140 to market with
LeftHand Network's SAN/iQ software," said Karl Chen, vice president
of business development and channels marketing for LeftHand
Networks. "SAN/iQ's sophisticated clustering technology will enable
the DataFRAME 140 product to provide users with enhanced
reliability, scalability and manageability features." The DataFRAME
140 features: * Up to 4GB Cache * 4 Hot-Swap SATA Hard Drives *
Dual Redundant Hot Swap Power Supplies * Support for RAID 0, 1, 5,
and 10 * LeftHand Network's SAN/iQ Management Software DataFRAME
