In Germany, the GfK consumer confidence index fell to -26.50 in October, compared to a revised level of -25.60 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to fall to -26.00.

In the US, the MBA mortgage applications declined 1.30% in the week ended 22 September 2023, compared to a rise of 5.40% in the prior week.
US durable goods orders unexpectedly rose in August
In the US, durable goods orders unexpectedly advanced 0.20% in August, compared to a revised drop of 5.60% in the previous month.
