Purchase of Own Equity Shares

Venture Production plc announces that on 15th May 2006 it purchased 20,000
ordinary shares of 0.4 pence each at 682.773 pence. The shares so purchased will
be held as treasury shares initially.

Following this transaction the Company holds 20,000 ordinary shares in treasury
and has 124,426,293 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
