                 NOTIFICATION OF DIRECTORS SHAREHOLDERS
                                    
The Board of Ted Baker PLC was today notified that Lindsay Page, Finance
Director, had purchased 12,500 ordinary 5p shares on 16 October 1998  at
93p,  in total representing 0.02 per cent. of the Company's issued share
capital.   Following  these purchases his total beneficial  holding  has
increased  to 241,173 ordinary shares, which include 15,000 shares  held
as  both  a  trustee and beneficiary.  The increased holding  represents
0.33 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital.
