--Chinese insurance company Ping An has evaluated acquiring Prudential PLC's Asian business, reports Bloomberg, citing unknown sources.

--Ping An has contacted the Chinese government over whether it would support such a deal, and discussed potential financing options, although it hasn't approached Prudential, Bloomberg reports.

--Prudential declined to comment to Dow Jones Newswires. Ping An couldn't be reached for comment.
