Osmetech plc ("the Company") announces that on 1 March 2001 the following
Directors were each granted the below noted performance related ordinary share
options in the Company all at an exercise price of 11.5p per share. These
options have an exercise period of between three and ten years:

Mr D C Grindrod                       500,000
Mr D A Sandilands                     300,000


The Company also announces that under the new Enterprise Management Incentive
Plan for employees adopted at the AGM in September 2000 that the following
Directors were each granted the below noted ordinary share options in the
Company all at an exercise price of 11.5p per share. These options have an
exercise period of between three and ten years:
