London, 13 July 2006 - On 13 July 2006, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LSE: HIK)
(DIFX: HIK) ("the Company") received  notification from The Capital Group
Companies, Inc., pursuant to Section 198 Companies Act 1985, that at the close
of  its business on 11 July 2006, The Capital Group Companies, Inc., on behalf
of its affiliates, including Capital  Research and Management Company, had an
interest in 7,811,400 ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company, which 
represents 4.668 per cent of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company,
as follows:
