                          JOHNNY HON JOINS THE BOARD                           

LONDON - 17 March 2005 - Central China Goldfields plc (AIM: GGG, GGGW) has
appointed Dr. Johnny Sei-Hoe Hon as a Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Dr. Hon is the Chairman of AIM-listed Betex Group plc, a gaming company focused
on the Asian Market.

A native of Hong Kong, Dr. Hon graduated from King's College, London with a
degree in Biomedical Science. He then completed a Ph.D in Psychiatry from
Cambridge University.

In 1998, Johnny joined ABN AMRO as a private banker and became a financial
adviser to numerous high net worth clients of the bank. He then formed and
serves as Chairman of Global Group (Europe) plc, an organisation with interests
in banking, property development, gaming, finance and leisure.

Dr. Hon is a committee member of the 48 Group Club which promote positive trade
and cultural relations between the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of
China.

The Company is granting Dr. Hon 1,000,000 Options exercisable at 6p until 13
March 2010. Following this there are now 4,300,000 Options granted to Directors
and Officers.
