Downing Protected Opportunities VCT  1 plc (the "Company")  announces 
that it has  published a  Prospectus (comprising  a Securities  Note, 
Registration Document and Summary) to raise, in aggregate, up to  GBP20 
million (the "Offers"). 
 
The  Company  has  also  published  a  Circular  seeking  shareholder 
approval for matters in connection with the Offers and giving  notice 
for a General Meeting to be held on 11 November 2009. 
 
The Offers opened  on 15 October  2009 and are  expected to close  no 
later than 5 April 2010 in the case of the 2009/10 Offer and 30 April 
2010 in the case of  the 2010/11 Offer (unless previously  extended). 
 The Offers are for up to 20,000,000 B Shares and up to 20,000,000  C 
Shares in the Company. The B Shares will be issued at a price of 99.9 
pence each and the C Shares at a price of 0.1 pence each.
