CHARTER EUROPEAN TRUST PLC-VOTING RIGHTS AND CAPITAL


In accordance with its obligations under rule 5.6.1 of the Disclosure and
Transparency Rules, we would like to notify the market of the following:

As at 31 January 2008, Charter European Trust plc's capital consists of
27,048,317 ordinary shares with voting rights.  Charter European Trust plc holds
1,758,000 ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Charter European Trust plc is
25,290,317.

The above figure (25,290,317) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Charter European Trust plc
under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
