Charter European Trust PLC announces that on 31 December 2007 it purchased, for
cancellation, 32,000 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 0.13% of the issued
Ordinary Capital), at a price of 243.0p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 32,500 Ordinary Shares is due on 4 January 2008.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the of the 32,500 Ordinary Shares,
the total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 1,758,000. The
issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares
held in Treasury, will be 25,471,317 Ordinary 1p Shares.
