                         Update on offer to exchange

On 2 October 2000, Atlantic Telecom Group PLC commenced an offer to exchange
its outstanding 13% Senior Euro Notes due 2010 and 131/4% Senior Sterling
Notes due 2010 (together, the "Old Notes") for new 13% Senior Euro Notes due
2010 and 131/4% Senior Sterling Notes due 2010, registered in the United
States under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, (together, the "New
Notes").

In order for holders of Atlantic Telecom Group PLC's Old Notes to participate
in the Exchange Offer, a completed, signed and dated Letter of Transmittal (or
facsimile thereof) and Notice of Guaranteed Delivery, if applicable, each
relating to the tender for exchange of such holder's Old Notes, must be
received by the Exchange Agent prior to 5:00pm, London time, on 27 October
2000.
