Dow Jones News
0921 GMT - RWE AG is among the most talked-about companies
across news items over the past 24 hours, according to Factiva
data, following days of protests against the extension of an
opencast coal mine run by the energy company in the village of
Lutzerath in western Germany. The village is set to be demolished
to expand the Garzweiler lignite mine under an agreement signed
with the federal government. RWE and Germany have pledged to bring
forward the phaseout of coal in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia
by eight years to 2030, but the government has also decided to
prolong the life of two coal power plants and allowed further
mining in Lutzerath to reduce gas consumption amid an energy crisis
triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Dow Jones & Co. owns
