--Iberdrola and Enel have approached China Three Gorges in the hope of reaching an agreement to buy EDP assets, which could clear hurdles for the Chinese company's bid for EDP, Expansion reports.

--China Three Gorges has made a takeover bid for the almost 77% of EDP it doesn't currently own, but due to industry regulations and the geographical extension of EDP, there may be obstacles from different bodies and countries.

--If China Three Gorges' bid were to succeed, the company may be interested in divesting certain assets, either because they don't fit in its strategy or due to regulatory demands, Expansion says.
