Los Angeles Times Names Two Advertising Sales Executives to Strengthen Target Marketing Operations

Gregg Dittoe Named Managing Director, Preprint Advertising; Scott
Pompe Named Vice President and General Manager, Times Direct LOS
ANGELES, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles Times announced
today the appointment of Gregg Dittoe as managing director,
preprint advertising and Scott Pompe as vice president and general
manager of Times Direct, a direct mail operation of the Los Angeles
Times. Dittoe will be responsible for The Times' major preprint and
Local Community Values preprint sales and operations, reporting to
Todd Brownrout, senior vice president, advertising. Pompe will be
responsible for Times Direct. He will report to Lou Tazioli,
president and general manager of Tribune Direct, with a dotted
reporting line to David P. Murphy, Times' executive vice president
and general manager. "Gregg has a deep knowledge of the shared mail
business and its customers," said Brownrout. "Gregg's leadership
and proven experience will enable us to increase our ability to
meet customer needs and win the shared mail business in this very
competitive marketplace," said Brownrout. "Scott is uniquely
qualified to lead the Times Direct team with a background in both
the direct mail and newspaper industries," said Tazioli. "We expect
great results from Scott as we continue building our direct
business in the important Los Angeles market." Dittoe, 52, is a
senior advertising executive with more than 25 years of experience.
He most recently was a consultant to Touchpoint, Inc., an online
direct marketing company, and Scripps Howard Newspapers. From 2000
to 2002, he was vice president, national sales for MailSouth, Inc.,
an independent provider of shared mail services. Dittoe spent 14
years with ADVO, first as vice president, national accounts
marketing and, from 1996-2000, as vice president of the ADVO
National Network Extension, where he was responsible for creating
and building that division into a major network of rural and
secondary shared mail markets throughout the U.S. Before joining
ADVO in 1986, he was vice president and general manager for
Harte-Hanks Communications. He earned a bachelor's degree from the
College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and a master's in business
administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Pompe, 39,
previously was vice president, business development for the
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where he was responsible for three
strategic business units that expanded the company's products into
online, shared mail, solo mail and database services. Before
joining the Journal Sentinel in 1996, he was a senior account
executive for ADVO and a database manager for Sundance
Broadcasting. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Pompe serves as president of the NTMC, an
association of major market newspapers that produce shared and/or
solo mail services. The Los Angeles Times, a Tribune Publishing
