Hapag-Lloyd said Thursday that it plans to start using SpaceX's satellite broadband service Starlink across its fleet.

The German container-shipping company said activation of the service is expected to take place early 2024, once the order is completed. Equipment should be installed by the end of this year.

Financial details weren't disclosed, but Hapag-Lloyd said the move is expected to lead to cost savings.

The company has been testing Starlink's satellite-powered internet since May, it said.
