HOUSTON, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced steps to assist in the Haiti earthquake recovery effort. Members of Continental's OnePass frequent flyer program are now eligible to donate miles, in the amount of their choosing, to two major charitable organizations involved in the Haiti relief effort. OnePass miles may be donated to The American Red Cross and AmeriCares. To make a donation, OnePass members should visit continental.com and see Donate Your Miles. Continental also is waiving change fees and additional fare collections for certain tickets to the Dominican Republic, adjacent to Haiti. The policy is available on the Important Notices section of continental.com Continental is remaining in contact with various U.S. government agencies regarding their transportation needs. The airline will announce its participation in governmentally-sponsored official relief activities as they occur. Continental does not fly to Haiti but does serve three cities in the neighboring country of the Dominican Republic - Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. Today's flights to Santo Domingo are full with travelers including relief workers. In the vanguard on Wednesday was a search-and-rescue team with four dogs which traveled on Continental from Spain to Santo Domingo via Newark/New York.
