Wrangler, maker of jeans and casual apparel, said Thursday its new product, The Wrangler Rooted Collection, will be made with 100% local, sustainable cotton.

The company is working toward a goal of using 100% sustainable cotton by 2025.

Wrangler, which is owned by VF Corp. (VFC), said the new collection features five state-specific pairs of jeans: the Alabama Jean, the Georgia Jean, the North Carolina Jean, the Tennessee Jean, and the Texas Jean. The cotton used in producing the jeans will be traceable to a family farm in each specific state, the company said.

The collection will also include two T-shirt designs for each state, as well as three national designs, Wrangler said.

The family farms supplying cotton are the first growers in the Wrangler Science and Conservation Program, the company said. They seek to utilize science-backed methods that build crop resilience to weather disruptions while improving yield and reducing water use and greenhouse gas emissions. Wrangler set a target to source 100% of its cotton from farms using land stewardship practices by 2025.
