Telecom Italia SpA (TIT.MI) and Qualcomm Inc.'s (QCOM) subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies Inc. have signed a cooperation agreement on business innovation and 5G, the companies said on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the companies will work together on innovative products for mobile and landline, and services that leverage the potential of 5G technology. The agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two companies, which have cooperated on initiatives related to 5G technology, which is expected to boost bandwidth.

The companies are planning a 5G trial in the second part of 2018, they said.
