BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, Dec. 5, Plant Farley, in cooperation
with state and local emergency management agencies, will conduct
the annual test of the emergency notification system located within
the plant's 10-mile emergency planning zone. This annual test
ensures area residents can be promptly notified in the unlikely
event of a plant emergency.
The test will begin at approximately noon
CT. All sirens located within the plant's 10-mile emergency
planning zone will be activated. The test is not a cause for
concern and it requires no public action.
When the testing begins, the sirens will activate and sound for
about three minutes. The sirens may be heard in Houston and Henry counties in Alabama and Early
County in Georgia by
residents, schools and businesses.
If this were an actual emergency, the message would advise
residents of any precautionary measures required. In an actual
emergency, sirens would be a signal for residents to go indoors and
tune in to their local Emergency Alert System radio or TV station.
County officials would then use these stations to provide
instructions to the public. The sirens are not an indication that
residents should leave the area.

plan and instructions for area residents, review the 2017 Plant
Farley Emergency Information Calendar online at
