Santiago, Chile. July 23, 2021 – Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) (NYSE: SQM; Santiago Stock Exchange: SQM-B, SQM-A) gives an update following a fire that affected two storage ponds located ponds on Monday, July 19, 2021, located in its Nueva Victoria production site in the Pozo Almonte district. The Company has made progress in reviewing the damage and associated repair times and reports the following:

1. The emergency protocols that were effectively executed and the quick response time of SQM employees led to no injuries being reported and containment of the damage being almost completely limited to the storage ponds mentioned above.

2. Currently, work is underway to repair the damaged storage ponds and preliminarily estimates suggest that these repairs will involve an investment of approximately US$600,000. Two of the three iodide plants at the Nueva Victoria production site have been stopped but should be back in operation within the next few days.

3. For now, it is estimated that as a total net effect of this accident, iodine production during 2021 will be affected between 150 and 200 metric tons.

4. Given the above, we do not believe our commercial commitments for 2021 will be impacted.
