Boylan Bottling Company Sees a Great Future in Glass

Boylan Bottling Company (Boylan) today announced that it has signed a long-term agreement with O-I of Perrysburg, OH to supply glass bottles for the Boylan line of super-premium sodas.

“I want to say one word to you…just one word. Glass. There’s a great future in glass. Well, at least for Boylan there is,” said Martin Kelly, President and CEO of Boylan, riffing on the famous quote from the movie The Graduate. “Glass is and always will be an essential part of what Boylan is about. Our authentic thick glass bottle is not only critical to the taste preservation of our bold flavored sodas, but also to our Boylan brand image. O-I understands that, and as the world’s largest manufacturer of glass packaging, they are the perfect partner to help us meet the growing demand for our super-premium sodas.” Kelly added.

O-I has been making iconic glass containers since 1903. “Boylan Bottling shares our passion for the superior attributes of glass packaging, which makes them a great fit for us,” said Marc Kibbey, O-I’s Vice President of Sales for Food and Beverage. “The Boylan glass bottles are beloved by their consumers because of their authenticity, and the fact that Boylan’s glass-bottled sodas can be enjoyed in their purest form and taste exactly as intended. “Glass bottles are a rich part of Boylan’s past and will always be a big part of our future. We experienced some supply issues in 2011 with glass we were importing, which made it a challenge to keep up with demand for our hand-crafted sodas, so we are thrilled to add O-I to our supply network,” said Kelly. “It’s a given that O-I is known for quality and service, but most importantly they “get” our vision for Boylan, and recognize that our glass bottles are a cornerstone of the Boylan brand and a premium value to our customers. We could not ask for more in a partner.”

O-I will be locally manufacturing all Boylan proprietary 12 ounce glass bottles at their Auburn N.Y., Toano V.A., and Brockway P.A. plants, which are embossed with the Boylan name and “1891”.
