Marshall Field's Announces Community Grants at 'Month of Giving'
Kick off Celebration Local Stores Name Nonprofit Grant Recipients
During Reception Featuring Window Unveiling MINNEAPOLIS, June 30
/PRNewswire/ -- Marshall Field's stores across the Twin Cities
today granted more than $40,000 to 24 local nonprofit organizations
in the areas of education, the arts, and health and welfare.
Representatives from these organizations celebrated at Marshall
Field's Minneapolis store for a reception during which grants were
awarded and the store's Nicollet Mall windows showcasing community
partners were unveiled with much fanfare. All of this activity
jump-started the first-ever Marshall Field's Gives Month. "We're
very excited to be able to provide this kind of support to our
communities," said Frank Guzzetta, president and chief executive
officer of Marshall Field's. "Marshall Field's Gives Month
showcases our community partners and highlights all they do to
improve the places where we live and work. Community giving is
deeply rooted in who we are at Marshall Field's, and during this
month we up the decibels as we applaud our nonprofit partners."
Marshall Field's Gives Month is dedicated to celebrating the
wonderful things local nonprofits bring to the area and encouraging
guests and team members to support these great causes. Marshall
Field's is proud to partner with numerous local organizations to
offer enhanced programming, unique events and various discounts in
an effort to encourage community support of arts and culture,
education and health and welfare. Marshall Field's Gives supports
local organizations and community programs such as the first-time
sponsorship of the Minneapolis Public Library Summer Reading
Program. In addition, for the fifth consecutive year, the company
will host Marshall Field's Day of Music on July 15-16 in
conjunction with the Minnesota Orchestra. On Aug. 5, Marshall
Field's will present Glamorama, its annual fashion charity event
that benefits Children's Cancer Research Fund. Every month,
visitors can enjoy Marshall Field's Free Third Sundays at Minnesota
Children's Museum in St. Paul. Through Marshall Field's Gives, the
company also features year-round giving initiatives such as a
longstanding partnership with the United Way; grants to individual
nonprofit organizations; event and program sponsorships; and
Field's Go Read(SM) -- an educational program that seeks to help
kids from preschool through third grade become skillful readers and
encourages them to get excited about reading. As part of The May
Department Stores Company, Marshall Field's team member charitable
contributions are matched, dollar for dollar, to eligible nonprofit
organizations. Other Marshall Field's Gives Month highlights
include: Special GiftCard Program Throughout July, Marshall Field's
will offer guests the opportunity to make a donation of $5 or more
to support early childhood learning programs when they purchase a
Marshall Field's GiftCard. Marshall Field's will match up to
$100,000 of guest donations to benefit the United Way's Born
Learning program. Marshall Field's Days of Caring Marshall Field's
has designated July 22-29 as Marshall Field's Days of Caring, when
team members will volunteer their time to make a difference
throughout the communities in which they live. Marshall Field's
supports and encourages its team members to pursue their interests
by donating their time, money and energy to causes and
organizations they care about. Block-Long Window Display During
July, Marshall Field's store windows on Nicollet Mall are dedicated
