SALT LAKE CITY, June 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/
-- Western Governors University (WGU) announced today that it
will partner with Wiley to establish a new scholarly publication,
The Journal of Competency-Based Education. The
Journal, which will be aimed at practitioners,
policy-makers, and educational researchers, will focus on research
in the area of competency-based education (CBE), but will also
include documented case studies and best practices.
Dr. Sally M. Johnstone, Vice
President for Academic Advancement for WGU, will serve as the
Journal's first editor. The Journal's editorial board
will include leaders in CBE from across the country. The initial
call for submissions will be issued in the next 30 days, with the
first issue planned for the first quarter of 2016. For more

"Competency-based education is now receiving widespread
recognition as an effective—and efficient—model for post-secondary
education," said Johnstone. "Our objective in establishing
this journal is to provide a reputable source of research and
information on all elements of competency-based education."
