Gateway Selected For Desktop, Notebook and Monitor Vendor for New York State Aggregate Purchase Contract IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, the nation's third-largest PC company, today was officially named the recipient for a purchase agreement providing business class desktops and notebooks, lightweight notebooks and display monitors to the New York state government as part of the New York State Aggregate PC Purchase. This six-month purchase agreement valued at an estimated $25 million is the second Aggregate PC Purchase conducted by New York this year and is anticipated to include as many as 21,000 units and save the State millions of dollars. "It's been said that if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere, and we're pleased the State of New York accepted Gateway to provide them with what we know are cost effective, industry-leading products, services and support," said Vin Riera, vice president of government sales, Gateway. "As the trend of bulk buying by state governments continues, Gateway will be there every step of the way to provide the best service and product mix to suit their unique needs." Under the terms of the agreement, New York State's many constituencies -- including state agencies, local governments and political subdivisions -- will be able to purchase Gateway's Professional product line of desktops, notebooks and displays. Gateway's image stable managed E-Series desktop platform was selected for the state's business class desktop contract. The Gateway(R) M250 notebook will provide dual service to the state as both a business class and lightweight notebook, and Gateway's LCD and CRT displays were also secured in the 6 month purchase cycle. With the agreement now finalized, state agencies can now purchase from the approved Gateway systems. New York's non-executive agencies, constitutional officers, state universities, local governments and school districts also have the option to take advantage of the terms of the agreement from Gateway. The New York announcement comes fresh on the heels of a recent Gateway win in the state of California naming Gateway as the only vendor awarded all three categories -- desktops, notebooks and monitors -- to provide technology to executive agencies in the state.
