Ford Motor Co. (F) said Sunday it has purchased Detroit's
Michigan Central Station and plans to transform it as part of a new
campus in the Corktown neighborhood.
Ford said in a release it plans to renovate the station to be "a
magnet for high-tech talent and a regional destination with retail,
restaurants, residential living, modern work spaces and more."
The 1.2 million-square-foot Corktown campus is expected to house
around 2,500 Ford employees by 2022, mostly from the mobility team,
and will have space for another 2,500 employees of partners and
other businesses, the auto maker said.
Ford said it would share more details about the project at an
event Tuesday.
