Danaher Corp. has named Rainer Blair as its next president and
chief executive, succeeding Thomas Joyce Jr., who intends to retire
on Sept 1.
The Washington, D.C., company said Mr. Joyce, who started at
Danaher in 1989, will remain a senior adviser for the company
through Feb. 28, 2021. He has held the CEO role since September
2014.
Mr. Blair joined the company in 2010 as president of North
America and Europe for Videojet, and has since been promoted to
more senior roles. Most recently, he oversaw Danaher's life
sciences platform.
Under Mr. Blair's leadership, revenues from the life sciences
platform grew from $2.4 billion annually in 2015 to about $10
billion currently, the company said.
"With the support of our senior leadership team and Board, I am
confident that Rainer is well-prepared to execute our strategic
priorities and create significant long-term value for
shareholders," said Mr. Joyce in prepared remarks.
