Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. (B&W) (NYSE:BW)
announced today that its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Loibl
GmbH (B&W Loibl), has been awarded a contract for more than $20
million to supply a co-firing conveying system and other equipment
to RWE Generation NL’s Amercentrale power plant in Geertruidenberg,
Netherlands.
When complete, the transport line will be able to convey biomass
pellet fuel from a quay (ship unloading site) to the plant
approximately 500 meters away.
B&W Loibl will supply multiple explosion-protected chain
conveyors and screw conveyors designed to provide safe and reliable
fuel feed from the storage silos to the milling facilities and,
finally, to the plant’s boiler. The system also includes a
state-of-the-art fire detection and suppression system. In
addition, B&W Loibl will refurbish an existing storage silo and
supply auxiliary equipment.
“We appreciate that our customer, RWE, has selected B&W
Loibl for this project,” said B&W Renewable segment Senior Vice
President Jimmy Morgan. “B&W Loibl is a global leader in
materials solutions and conveyor systems, and our technologies are
particularly well-suited for biomass fuel handling applications
like this project.”
Engineering is underway at B&W Loibl’s offices in Straubing,
Germany. Installation of the conveyor systems is planned to begin
in early 2019 and is scheduled to be completed in the fourth
quarter of 2019.
